TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics from science to business to global issues in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx brings the spirit of TED to local communities around the globe through TEDx events. TEDx events include live speakers and recorded TED Talks, and are organised independently under a free license granted by TED. These events are not controlled by TED, but event organisers agree to abide by our format, and are offered guidelines for curation, speaker coaching, event organising and more. They learn from us and from each other. More than 3000 events are now held annually.
TEDxBonnSquare is based in Oxford, United Kingdom with a core mission to provide a global platform to grassroot voices and help these voices to take root and make a real change in society because we believe not only in the power of 'ideas worth sharing' but also in the potential of 'ideas worth doing'.
